This Privacy Policy explains how Cipherwave Software Limited
(“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information
in connection with the Christian Hymns mobile application
(the “App”, package com.cipherwave.xhymnal). By using
the App, you agree to the practices described here.
Information Stored on Your Device
To make the App work and remember your preferences, the following is stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted to us:
- Your selected language (English or Yorùbá)
- Your theme choice (light, dark, or system) and reading text size
- Hymns you mark as favourites
- Hymns you have recently viewed
This information is removed when you clear the App’s data or uninstall the App. We (the developer) have no access to it.
Information We Collect
We do not operate servers that collect personal data, and we do not require you to create an account or provide any personal information to use the App. The hymn content is bundled with the App and read offline.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The App is supported by advertising provided by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, Google and its partners may collect and process certain information, which can include:
- Device advertising identifiers (e.g. the Android Advertising ID)
- IP address and approximate, non-precise location derived from it
- Device and app information (device model, operating system, app version)
- Ad interaction data (ads shown, taps)
This data may be used to show ads (including, where permitted, personalized ads), to limit how often you see an ad, and to detect fraud. Google’s handling of this data is governed by its own policies:
Other Google Play Services
The App uses standard Google Play services for:
- In-app updates — to offer you the latest version from Google Play.
- In-app review — to let you rate the App without leaving it.
These features are provided by Google Play and are subject to the Google Privacy Policy.
Permissions
The App requests only the permissions it needs:
- Internet & network state — required to load ads and check for app updates. Hymn content itself works fully offline.
Your Choices
- You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalization in your device settings under Settings → Google → Ads.
- You can clear all locally stored data at any time via your device’s Apps → Christian Hymns → Storage → Clear data, or by uninstalling the App.
Children’s Privacy
The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, please contact us and we will address it.
Data Security
Because your settings and favourites are stored only on your device and we do not run collection servers, there is no personal data held by us to be breached. Data processed by Google AdMob is protected under Google’s security practices.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
